Yep, that’s what he said and he’s certainly right about it. Google isn’t an artificial intelligence filled bot or neither it’s your answering bot. It only provides you with different sources to search for your answers. The answers might vary from page to page.

No, one can’t really pay for that as Google believes in efficiency and advertisements are very limited. Panda:

Released on Feb 24, 2011, this major upgrade was the initiation of Google’s concentration on all the fake, duplicate and reused contents. There were previous upgrades concentrating on this particular factor as well, but they weren’t as fast and efficient as this one is. This brought major changes in the ways that the blogs used to post their contents. Though it was previously a filtering factor, later it was incorporated into the core algorithm.

If Penguin deems the links presented by the websites to be manipulative, then the websites lose their ranks. This works in real time and has been a part of Google’s core algorithm since its inception. Hummingbird:

This is when almost every business started putting their concentration on the mobile versions.

RankBrain:

This is considered to be the third most important ranking factor for Google. This is a feature wherein Google identifies the actual intention behind the user’s search and tries to find the most relevant pages to omit. These web pages are decided upon their field and their expertise. If someone searches for a digital marketing question, then they’d be getting all those results who are affiliated or operate solely upon Digital marketing. Possum:

This was one really important update that everyone needed. This is more like an upgraded version of the Pigeon. Before this, people used to receive the results from their particular location but wasn’t as accurate. From here on, Google made it easy for the searching party, by showing up the nearby business they are in need of. Hence users now can just type for the kind of service they need and they’ll be welcomed by the ones close to them. This also helps the searching parties against the confusion of businesses with the similar names. If you search for a xyz woodworks and there’s a similar and a famous one in some other country, you’d still be shown the one closer to you. This was launched on September 1, 2016.

Fred:

This one came out last year (2017) on March 8th. This officially confirmed upgrade, eyes on all those websites that create a low-quality content for the advertisement purposes. So if your page’s main aim is to create some namesake articles, you’re not going the right way. Google would definitely make sure that you don’t rank any higher and your rank falls eventually. So even if you aim to only publish ads, show them that you’re even more serious about content blogging. Then you can use it as a leverage for your advertisements.

Mobile-first index:

This is the most recent upgrade launched on March 26, 2018, in the Google’s algorithm. This has been officially confirmed as well. According to this upgrade, Google search would start preferring the websites that are more mobile friendly and those that load faster on a mobile phone. So, what does it mean to all those websites that aren’t mobile friendly? Do they have to change their whole website to fit into a mobile’s compatibility? Are they not going to be displayed on the search list? Well, the answer to this is, they are going to be listed. The only difference is that they won’t be ranked higher on the list. So the answer is yes. If you want to stay in the race, then you need to upgrade your website to a mobile friendly one.

In Google, I/O 2018 conference the star of the show was of course Artificial Intelligence or AI and even the Google Assistant was one of the central parts of the conference. The new and updated version of the Android P that is used in Google Pixel mobiles was also made available to watch and was made available to people who want in their Google Pixel mobiles or the developers. And Google covered all the important advancement that is being done in the technologies, Android version, new things introduced and everything.

Below are the announcement and advancement that is being made by and told by Google in the Google I/O conference 2018:

  • ASSISTANT FOR HANDLING THE CALLS IN GOOGLE DUPLEX
    Making calls and booking reservations, giving appointments have become easier now with the more advanced and more smarter and natural sounding voice of the Google assistant. It can easily handle all your business calls and to and fro question and answer conversations easily it can even handle your calls like when you hate to make a call when your reservation is not confirmed Google assistant makes a call on behalf of you.
    As Google started explaining everything about Google Duplex and two calls one by the Google Assistant and the other the Human call. Both were very similar and it was difficult to identify who was human and who was not and between both only one was the real human.
    The most interesting thing about the Google Duplex was that it included “hmm” “umm“ when someone on the other side of call replied “okay. Give me one second”. And even had “uhh” behaving like it’s thinking about the answer. It was even able to answer all the twisted and turned questions and the answer that was seemed to be very natural. And it was very much unbelievable for any person to identify who is human. Even sometimes the human mess up the things but Google Duplex talk the right answer and never mess up.
  • SELF DRIVING WAYMO JAGUARS I-PACE
    These cars are very important for the future generation and are required a lot in the future as this is the driverless or self-driving car. The working and all was shown in person to the people present in the conference. And it was even illustrated that in the coming years more than 20,000 cars would be on the roads. At present, it was being used in a taxi with no drivers on the driver’s seat. The Waymo taxi service company announced to launch this service in Phoenix, Arizona by the end of this year. The people can avail this car easily with no drivers and can travel to the local destination.
  • SMART COMPOSE INTRODUCED IN GMAIL
    There has been a lot of changes in the Gmail this year than the 14 years. It is using artificial intelligence or AI to make the Gmail experience even better. The main feature of the smart compose is that it by using the Machine Language it would help to create and complete the sentence in the emails automatically. As similar to that one in the mobile phone which predicts the word for you whereas in here it composes the whole sentence. From the above image, you can see How the market spending has doubled from $34.3 billion in 2017 up to $65.9 billion in 2019 just in a span of two years. The data is combined spending of North America and the UK exclusively.

However, you can observe a massive difference between the increased amount of spending for each individual annum. The increase in marketing size in 2018 is 18.1 BN, and for the current year, it is 13.5 BN.

This means the corporate spending on marketing software has decreased by 4.6 BN in comparison to 2017.

As you can see, the results show a rapid growth rate in the spendings in North America
region while the UK has remained steady.

On average, all the brands in North America and the UK are spending approximately 26% of their budgets on software when compared to 23% last year.

That means there is a 13% increase in martech budgets since last year. However, in comparison to 2017 Martech values, there is slight evidence of a decline in the future of the market.

When coming to in-house sourcing and outsourcing by these companies, there has been substantial discussion in the industry regarding the usage of in-housing of tech and optimized utilization of services by brands from their agency partners over the years.

However, what the results suggest is, in the North America region, there has been an increase in both in-sourcing and outsourcing by the brands.

However, when you look at the data of the UK, there has been an evident drop in the outsourcing of resources but a 1% increase in the in-sourcing.

The 750 brands and agencies on who the research is done have two opinions on the client’s budget. On analyzing the combined results of these 750 brands, 43% of the brands feel there would be an increase in the client’s budget over 12 months by 2020, 53% of the brands feel there wouldn’t be any change as the clients will still keep their budgets fixed for the annum. However, only 4% of the brands feel there would be a slight drop in the set budgets of the clients.

When you try to look at the results of the analysis for individual regions, each region has its perspective.

Before moving on with the further analysis of the data, you should remember that the analysis reports of Europe excluding the UK while the others are of the whole region.

All other regions except for Europe strongly believe that most of the client’s budget would remain constant while in Europe, 53% of the brands believe there would be a significant increase in the budgets of the clients.

As you can see, each percentage of brands has its proposals for the budget increase.

On average marketing technology, 2020 budgets by brands are:
  • 22% believe that their budgets might increase by 0-5%.
  • 26% estimate their budget increase between 6-10%.
  • 21% calculate their brand budget increase to range in between 11-15%.
  • 15% of the brands feel theirs might increase between 16-20%.
  • 9% of the brands say their budget will increase between 21-25%
  • 6% of all brands estimated their budgets to increase by more than 25%.

However, from the results, you can analyze that Europe, including the UK, has the highest percentage of brands, on average, 9.5%, which predicts their budgets to be more than 25% of the current budgets.

While North America has no companies which estimate to spend more than 25%, however, it has the highest number of brands calculating to increase in between 0-5% on their budgets.

How has increased investment in marketing technology affected the companies’ Media Spend?

With the development of Chatbots, Artificial Intelligence, SEO tools, and other corporate tools, it has become easier for marketers which media is most effective for their use and promotions.

In the last year’s survey, it was found that the marketers had decreased their market spend when they invested in software tools. But for 2019, marketing technology, the market trends have changed.

From the above data, you can understand how the market trends have changed in comparison to 2018.

Though for about 44% of the brands, their media spend has not been affected, for 32%, it has decreased whereas there was a 57% decrease in 2018.

That means there is a difference of 25% when compared. However, a significant increase of 8% is visible on the media spend from 2018 to 2019.

Brands?

On a global basis for brands the marketing technology, market trends and sizes suggest for the development of in-sourcing resources as well as to maintain good relations with outsourcers too.
